This update demonstrates drops in the form of ship engine and shield upgrades (color coded, Diablo style, for now), along with repair pickups. A decent amount of game engine work has been done that isn't really visible... animations are now supported which can be seen in the missile and mine explosions. Oh, mines, they're new too. They player ship will now indicate damage in the form of sparks and smoke - subtle detail for now, I know, perhaps I'll expand on it later. The background now has a few different variations instead of just being the same texture tiled back to back. Also, we're still using the same shitty collision detection from way back when; hopefully that'll get some attention soon.

All in all, still a whole lot of ground to cover.

All of the graphics are placeholders for now, but I want to thank opengameart.org since I've been using some of their free resources in this thing so far - and probably will continue to do so for some time.

What's on the near horizon:
More weapon work
Weapon upgrade drops along with primary and secondary weapons for the player
More animations to replace particles
Sound engine

Farther horizon:
Perhaps a better collision detection system :P
Weapon idea: Giant Bombs
NPC ships - enemies, neutrals (factions?)
Different levels with different objectives
